[Out of all the things Garnet could do, this was probably one of the last thing she had on her mind. Of course, after watching Greg play a game of pinball, she couldn't help but be curious and to try it herself.

Of course, the trouble now was exactly how to start...or maybe, the better word would be how to win it]

[That and she had a feeling she can't play it without future vision getting in the way. And boy, did she learn from that embarrassing mistake.]

[Pearl chuckles nervously and pushes back a few curls from her face]

Well! I guess I'll... give it a try!

[hm... how to work it. aha! she finds a quarter in her pocket (it had been on the floor of their house, and she'd picked it up) and puts it in the machine. it immediately comes to life, flashing lights and playing music]

Good, now you're getting it. The point is to keep the ball as long as you can. All you have to do is to make sure that it doesn't go through the hole.

[And yet again, she found herself staring to wonder exactly how would Pearl would react on every single move. Would it go well or...?]

You seem to know a lot about the game already. [Pearl almost asks Garnet why she isn't playing it, and then she remembers. yep, that wouldn't be a good idea.

anyway, Pearl pulls back the handle and sets the ball into motion. gotta keep it moving, so she moves her hands to the flickers]

[norns]

Trust me, I already know how to play, I would if I could.

[While it was handy at times, she had to admit. Having future vision wasn't the best thing in the world.

Which was why all she could do is watch Pearl play and trying to hold back on during her abilities. She definitely looked like she wanted to tell her and yet...]

[Pearl is able to keep the ball in play for a few seconds. eventually, it hits a bumper and sails past the flippers. Pearl makes a scoffing sound]

Well, now, that wasn't fair at all!

[norns]

You got to keep on trying, I think you'll get it eventually. Just be sure to keep an eye on the ball and you'll see it land on one of the flippers.

[And you know, totally not telling her the future there. Nope, not at all, what are you talking about?]

[nacreous]

It's just a stupid earth game. [she says like the sore loser that she is, forgetting that just moments ago, Garnet said she would be good at it] Why does it matter if I master it or not?

[norns]

It doesn't. [And there Garnet goes being blunt] But the important thing is to just have fun regardless if you fail or not.

Just remember what I said, just keep your eye on the ball and you'll be fine.[She's seriously trying to help you, listen to her!]

[Pearl makes another huff, but she's not going to give up. not when Garnet has so much faith in her. she pulls back the ball launcher again and the ball flies into the machine. Pearl never takes her eyes off it, and this time, the ball stays in play longer]

What's next?

That...is something you'll have to find out yourself. I'm afraid if I tell you, you'll never be able to learn how to play it.

[That and using future vision too much would result in what happened back then. She can't do that again. That was enough embarrassment and almost jeopardised the mission.]

[hm... so what was the goal of this game?]

I seem to recall a lot more lights flashing the last time I saw someone play this thing. [kachnk! the ball falls past the flippers again] I wonder how to make that happen...

[so now Pearl is looking over the pinball machine as a whole, seeing the numbers next to certain areas. that must be how you earn points, she guesses]

That's because you're suppose to hit the bumpers, the point is to hit them as many times as you can to get a high number.

[She said as she pointed to said bumpers and then to said numbers]

...Or at least, that's how Steven told me.

I was just starting to figure that out. [what happened to Garnet wanting Pearl to do this for herself? Pearl's not upset, though, she was merely commenting.
